API Credits
What are API credits
API credits represent your usage allowance when making requests to the Alphractal API.
Each request consumes a certain number of credits based on the type of endpoint and the amount of data returned.
Credits allow us to:
-
Fairly distribute resources
-
Support high-volume analytical workloads
-
Offer predictable pricing across different usage patterns
How credits are consumed
Credits are primarily affected by:
-
Endpoint type – simple metric endpoints cost less than bulk or query endpoints.
-
Data volume – larger responses (more datapoints) consume more credits.
-
Request frequency – repeated requests count independently.
Example (conceptual):
-
Single metric, short time range → low credit cost
-
Bulk query with pagination → higher credit cost
Credit limits
Your available credits depend on your plan.
When your credit balance is exhausted:
-
Requests may be temporarily blocked, or
-
Requests may return partial or empty responses, depending on the endpoint.
Exact limits and behaviour are tied to your subscription tier.
Monitoring usage
You can monitor:
-
Remaining credits
-
Credit consumption over time
-
Usage by API key
directly from the Alphractal dashboard.
Important notes
-
Credits reset according to your plan’s billing cycle.
-
Unused credits do not roll over unless explicitly stated in your plan.
-
Abuse or excessive usage may result in temporary rate limiting.
